About Me

Hi, I'm Annie! I'm a Catholic wife, writer & producer, and I work from home on a prayer ministry I run with my husband. I also write about, and share, some of the best things I find about living an authentic Catholic life as a woman & wife.

I read a powerful reflection a few years ago that I read a powerful reflection a few years ago that suggested coming up with something in your life that you struggle or suffer from, and asking Jesus to let it die, too, on the cross on Good Friday. To offer it to Him in prayer and to ask Him to conquer this particular thing in your life, and to redeem it. To renew and transform this wound or pain. To loosen its grip on your life. To give you the graces to endure. Swipe right for more. 🙏
An icon of the second station of the Cross: but un An icon of the second station of the Cross: but unlike other icons I have seen, this one depicts the moment *right before* Jesus began to carry His cross — this moment where He had a choice with how to respond to what God was asking of Him. And the way that Jesus responds here, with open hands — willingly accepting what’s about to happen, teaches us all how to respond to God's will in big moments and small — in our everyday lives. Willingly. Trustingly. Believing He will redeem what’s painful, use it, and give us what we need to endure. ❤️🙏

'Our beloved Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am g 'Our beloved Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going to waken him....' If anything strikes us as final, it's death, isn't it? The person's dead - he's gone, that's it, that's over. But look how (casually) Jesus refers to death: 'Oh, Lazarus, he's asleep, I'm going to wake him.' What that is, everybody, is the sovereign authority and power of God. Yes, to us, death looks absolute and final, but it's not absolute and final to God. To God, it's a matter of waking someone from sleep - it's the sovereignty of the Son of God over death... (And) When Jesus sees the people around the tomb weeping, He weeps... He weeps here at the tomb of Lazarus. The Incarnation means that God enters into our human condition - God takes to himself a human nature, in such a radical way, that He thinks with a human mind, he wills with a human will, and he weeps from human eyes. It's God's intimate participation in the fullness of our humanity even at this place where we weep in our anguish over the death of a friend. God weeps, God shares that with us... this is God who enters into the nitty gritty, all the particularity and pain of being human. It's a great comfort..." (from Bishop Baron's Sunday Mass homily 3/29/2020)

I frequently think about whether I'm communicating I frequently think about whether I'm communicating well my love and appreciation for the people I care about. I ask myself: Do they know that I love them? Do they know that I appreciate them? And when I consider how I try to show these things to them, I then think about how we might do the same to show the Lord that we love Him. Here are a few thoughts about that...
