He also says, “The family which experiences the joy of faith communicates it naturally.”
I gotta say, it didn’t used to feel all that natural to me.
Sometimes, it actually felt like work.
But after practice, and work, and prayer, it feels a little more natural to me now — to communicate my faith, to share that with my husband, with our families & friends.
That’s what I hope I do here — with you.
And today, I have another resource that I know can really help you and you, your husband, and your families do the same for one another.
My friend Katie Warner just came out with a book — Head & Heart: Becoming Spiritual Leaders for Your Family, and once you read it, you’re going to want to give it to your friends, Bible studies and Parishes. And if that’s what you do, you can even use this Free Study Guide for discussion & reflection.
Katie invites us to discover the deeper meaning of our vocations as wives and husbands – as the spiritual heart and the spiritual head of our families. She discusses how each of us, the wife and the husband, complements the other, and how the special skills each of us has works towards a family functioning in peace & growing closer to God.
Katie interviewed a lot of Catholic spiritual leaders (including my husband and me!), and she gives us their best advice for how to fulfill this most important mission in our families: leading them to Christ.
That’s a big responsibility, and I know that when you first think of it, it’s hard to know where to start doing that as a family, and as a wife. Katie tells us where, and she goes through the seven characteristics of strong spiritual leaders — and how you can become that for your family.
As husband and wife, we were made to complement one another, and we were also made for specific roles within the family. Katie shows us what those are, and how to fill ’em!
P.S. This is NOT a sponsored post. This is me being real about you helping your families. And helping my friend, because her book is awesome and you should read it! 😉
