Have you ever heard that love song by Brad Paisley — I thought I loved you then?
It’s one of my favorites.
And the longer that I’ve been married, the more I like it.
Give it a listen! It’s basically about how love grows — how you used to think you loved someone (and you did), but now you love them way more than you did back then — and you never knew that would be possible… but it is. And it’s the best thing ever.
And it’s kind of a lot like this piece from Verily.
Regina Bethencourt reflects on her first year of marriage and makes a note that I think couldn’t be more true.
She wrote,
“This kind of intimacy (after some time being married) is so powerful that I look back on our dating relationship and laugh a little to think that we thought we knew each other (back then).”
That’s a sentiment I completely agree with!
I was actually just talking about this with my husband a few weeks ago… I told him I wish I could marry him all over again, because I’m more in love with him now than I was back then (almost three years now!) — and I know him better, and I love him all the more for it! And lucky for me, he feels the same way. 🙂
