Here are this week’s must-reads:
+ “If my hope has grown weary, I can borrow the hope of the saints, of the angels, of the Blessed Mother Mary, of my friends and my family. I can borrow their hope… until mine comes back.” — Liz Kelly
+ “Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you…” This prayer is a part of the Sacred Heart Novena, written by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. It’s one of those short & sweet prayers you can say throughout your day. I shared this Sacred Heart ornament, along with these other beautiful faith-filled pieces in this week’s newsletter. + P.S. None of these home decor pieces is necessary. We could do without it all. These things fall to the end of the list of things that really matter. But, beauty… is still worth seeking and creating if you’d like. In seasons when you can. And, I’ve found, it’s even life-giving in those seasons when you just can’t. It can really encourage you, comfort you, console you. It can be a little reminder throughout your day that you’re not alone, that there is a plan, and that even the most difficult seasons will not last forever.
So while it’s not necessary and we can do without it all, I’m still sharing these little pieces that I hope can be meaningful encouragers in your home for all who enter. I share these collections every Monday through Patreon. If you sign up for it, you’ll get the newsletter as an email every Monday afternoon.
+ “Christ shows that God is closeness, compassion and tender love. When Jesus heals someone, he prefers to do it not from a distance but from close proximity… In his compassion, God does not love us with words, he comes forth to meet us. And by His closeness, He comes forth to show us His tender love.” — The Abiding Together Podcast reviewing Dilexit Nos.
+ Advent starts in less than 2 weeks! One of the things I recommend praying with during Advent is the different titles of Jesus. There are so many. But did you know the one that Jesus used most often to refer to Himself as? Read more here…
+ “Prayer is the key. To really hear the voice of God, we’ve got to pray. We can’t just think about God, we can’t just study God, we can’t just talk about God. We have to encounter the living God — we have to be willing to waste time with God.” — Dr. Andrew Swafford, The Pray More Advent Retreat
+ “It’s not wasted. You serve a God who will not waste it. He won’t let it crush us — the Scriptures say it. He’s close to the broken hearted. He revives those who are crushed in spirit. He revives us. I want to encourage everyone to get to know the God that won’t let the ache crush us. Get to know Him, seek His face.” — Better Together
+ “I used to say (in prayer), “Stay with me, Jesus, stay with me.” But then I was thinking no — He never leaves me, I’m the one that leaves Him. Now I ask him to help me stay with him.” — watch here
+ “As I reflected, I was reminded again, that my purpose at this season in history is to trust Him, to hold fast to my faith, to choose in every way that I am able, to bring light to those I encounter, to write encouragement, to give hope, to choose loving generously in as many relationships as I am able, to forgive generously as I want to be forgiven, to cultivate a deeper love for God and His truth. I am called to hold up joy which means to rejoice in God, to worship Him in every situation and every day.” — Sally Clarkson
