So if you’ve been following me here for a while, you may already know that my husband and I run a prayer ministry called Pray More Novenas where we pray one or two novenas each month as a community.
The small back story behind our ministry is that I prayed a novena to St. Anne years ago, hoping to meet my future spouse. Soon after, I met my now-husband, John-Paul.
We would go on to pray another novena later — after John-Paul initially turned the idea down — which, all in all, led to the creation of Pray More Novenas.
You see, a novena was something that led me to John-Paul. Then, it was something which brought us closer in our relationship and discernment of marriage. And now, it’s a part of our everyday married life and our prayer life together.
And get this, we’re not the only ones who love novenas!
This really incredible woman I know, Lucy, got engaged a few months ago — on the feast of Christ the King, actually! And the story of her meeting her fiance, dating him and discerning their future together, is absolutely beautiful — and includes a couple novenas too!
Lucy was recently interviewed for an article for Catholic Match, by Lori Hadacek Chaplin.
“After months and months of praying novena after novena and praying for discernment, we both knew that we wanted to strive toward heaven together. We continue to pray together every morning and night over the phone and have made prayer the cornerstone of our relationship. I love this man: his faith, his patience, kindness (his St. Joseph-ness as I often describe it), his outlook on life, his enthusiasm, and his commitment to family. And on September 12, 2015, I will have the honor of becoming his wife.”
Congratulations to Lucy & Adam!
And if you want a love story like theirs, I think this is a good example that prayer is definitely the way to go!
